Under the ongoing Shrimathi Indira Gandhi Memorial Library Project, books and library cupboards were presented to three deserving schools in Vavuniya: Vavuniya Tamil Madhya Maha Vidyalayam, Kandy Road, Vavuniya; Madukanthai Sinhala Madhya Maha Vidyalaya, Madukanthai, Vavuniya; and Muslim Madhya Maha Vidyalayam, Mannar Road, Vavuniya. At a simple function held at the Indian Cultural Centre on 24th October, 2007, High Commissioner H.E. Shri Alok Prasad, Patron of the Sri Lanka India Society, made a token presentation of parcels containing books to the representatives of the schools’ principals on behalf of the Society. The President of the Society, Mr. Manik Perera, and Project Chairman Mr. Kandiah Neelakandan attended the function. The other books and library cupboards are being despatched to the schools.
