Dr. Karan Singh, President, Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), visited Colombo to deliver the first Lakshman Kadirgamar Memorial Lecture on August 10, 2006. He was accompanied by the Director General, ICCR, Mr. Pavan K. Varma.
The President and the Director General of ICCR paid a visit to the Indian Cultural Centre on August 11, 2006, accompanied by the High Commissioner, Mrs. Nirupama Rao and the Deputy High Commissioner, Mr. A. Manickam. The Director of the ICC, Mrs. Nagma Mallick made a power point presentation of the activities of the Centre and the excellent state of the bilateral cultural ties between India and Sri Lanka. Dr. Karan Singh addressed the gathered students and faculty members of the ICC and spoke on the role of the Indian Cultural Centres worldwide and on the civilisational unity between India and Sri Lanka. A simple reception was also held in honour of the President and Director General of ICCR. |
