As part of India’s continuing commitment to the promotion of higher education in the Eastern Province and development of its human resources, Deputy High Commissioner, Shri Vikram Misri, presented some 100 books to the libraries of the Eastern University, Batticaloa, and the Swami Vipulananda Institute of Aesthetic Studies of the Eastern University at a simple function at the High Commission on 27th March 2009.

The books covered a wide range of subjects relating to India, from economics, politics, globalization, history, international relations and literature to climate change, science & technology to art & culture and subjects of general interest, including a few books on Mahatma Gandhi and Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru.
