Indian Hospital at Pulmudai
  1. The Indian Medical team arrived Colombo on 09 and 10 Mar 09 in two groups. The Team departed to Pulmoddai on 11 Mar 09 and set up a 50 bed field medical hospital for the IDPs on 12 Mar 09. The Indian Field Hospital was upgraded to 115 bedded hospital in the first week of May 09 subsequently. The hospital received the first batch of IDPs ferried by the ICRC ship MV Green Ocean on 16 Mar 09. The team during its stay at Pulmoddai received a total of 21 ships. The details of the treatment provided to the injured and the sick are as follows:-

  3. Apart from providing medical assistance to IDPs ferried by the ICRC, the Indian Medical Team has also rendered medical assistance to hundreds of locals of Pulmoddai. Some of them were referral cases from the local hospital doctors.
  4. After the ICRC assisted ship evacuation stopped, the medical team shifted its focus to providing medical assistance to the IDPs housed in three camps at Pulmoddai. The team has also provided medical assistance to IDPs of Pulmoddai IDP camps. The details of treatment at IDP camps at Pulmoddai are as follows:-
